For Practitioners
Let's Get to Work! We are building an inclusive employment movement.
In 2015, we asked ourselves an important question: Would it be possible to take what we learned from 25 years of lifting people out of poverty and adapt those learnings to new contexts? And so, with a lot of heart, hard work, and great people by our side, we made our foray into expansion through a partnership with Lutheran Social Services of Indiana and the development of LSSI Works.

Four years later, we are exploring new ways to scale our impact with the launch of Cara Plus – which engages leaders around the world to build, deploy, and grow strong workforce solutions so that our most vulnerable have the access and opportunity to get back to work. We’re developing a global network of organizations through our affiliates and Cara Institute because we believe that sharing our best practices and best failures will amplify our collective reach and impact.

Our Goal

Engage leaders to build, deploy, and grow strong workforce solutions.

Affiliate

Through our affiliates, we help existing organizations setup locally owned and operated expressions of Cara based on their communities’ context, opportunities, and needs. Our affiliates view workforce development as a key component to advance self-sufficiency and we work with these partners for 10 to 12 months to co-design a program specific to their model, vision, and population needs.

Institute

Through Cara Institute, we share our collective learnings through immersive trainings and workshops with organizations who want to learn new and effective workforce development practices. Several times a year, we bring in cohorts of organizations for shadowing, immersion, and peer-to-peer learning with practitioners to strengthen their models and impact.
